Our greatest challenge NOW is to educate non-thinking voters on why conservative principles are so important. They must understand the reason and logic behind the timeless principles. Principles that must be reclaimed and renewed before it is too late. WE must reach the people in a way they can understand, in a way that moves them to think and then vote in their own best interests.

Two skills are required. LOGIC & HUMOR

LOGIC In his book, “Eloquence in Public Speaking, How to Set your Words on Fire”, Dr. McFarland gives William Jennings Bryan’s definition of eloquence: “The speech of one who knows what he is talking about and means what he says—it is thought on fire.” Dr. McFarland knew the principles of our freedom and could speak them. His speeches are a gold mine of common sense and deep understanding of our guiding principles.

HUMOR Like Lincoln and Reagan, they both used humor to illustrate their messages. As Dr. Jarvis liked to say, “People don’t think, they think they think” and “humor can be used to illustrate a pitifully painful point.” Both Dr. Jarvis and Dr. McFarland were patriots whose words and wit cut through the fog of dogma. They could make people think without making them mad. A Great example of this is the next blog, Liberties can be Lost.

When you combine those two skills you will be able to reach the minds and hearts of our young voters. Every concerned Conservative needs to own, listen to and share their talks! Several are available free here on McFarland Speaks. Their words, although couched in the style of the greatest generation, ring true today.

I can’t tell you how many people, over the years, have told me that when they were young, they listened to these talks over and over until they were memorized, their lessons learned. Go online today at Dr. McFarland’s Store and Charlie Jarvis’s Store and start your collection of the speeches of these Greatest Generation Americans. Better yet, buy them all, they are inexpensive and invaluable. There is no time to lose. The forces of liberalism must be fought and un-taught!
